“The eyes of your
understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his
calling, and the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”
Ephesians 1:18.
LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The greatest need of the believer is the need for knowledge.
The greatest need of the believer is not power. A believer
does not have a power problem. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to
them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his
name”. Power has already been given to the believer therefore he is not
in want of power. Also, a believer in Christ does not have a sin problem. The
Bible records in John 1:29, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto
him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”.
Sin has already been dealt with by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. Therefore, a believer in Christ does not have a sin problem. The
greatest need of the believer is the need for knowledge, not just any kind of
knowledge but the exact, precise and accurate knowledge (epignosis) of all the
good things that has been made available to him in Christ Jesus. The Apostle
Paul speaking in Philemon 1:6 says, “That the communication of thy faith may become
effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ
Jesus”. Also, speaking to Timothy, Paul in 2Timothy 3:15 says, “And
that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make
thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”.
If you carefully noticed, all throughout the Pauline prayers
for the church, Apostle Paul never prayed for the church to have power neither
did he pray for the forgiveness of the sins of the church. Rather, he prayed
for the church to come into knowledge. This is because all we need and will
ever need as believers has already been provided for in Christ but we need to
know this and activate same in our daily lives. The need for knowledge can
never be overemphasized in our daily Christian walk here on earth.
INSTRUCTION:Go after the revelation knowledge of
Christ.
PRAYER:Lord, I receive the revelation to
know and appropriate all that your death, burial and resurrection has wrought
for me, In Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE:The freedom of the believer is in
knowledge.
