“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to
be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God (which he had promised afore by
his prophets in the holy scriptures) concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh” Romans 1:1-3
LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The gospel is God’s commitment to man.
The gospel is God’s promise to man fulfilled. It is God’s commitment to man. 1Peter 1:10-11 says, “of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time the spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow”. The gospel was promised in the Old testament, fulfilled in the Four-Gospel and revealed in the Epistles. The facts of the gospel speak for themselves. I Corinthians 15:1-4 says, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also, ye are saved, if y keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ did for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”. The facts of the gospel are that Christ died, was buried and that He rose from the dead the third day. This is what brings salvation to man.
Romans 8:1 (NLT) says, “so now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus”. The gospel is what frees man from condemnation. Redemption does not function in feelings. It is a legal issue and there is no sentimentality in legality. The gospel is all about the restoration of the lost glory of man through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Anything outside of these facts is not the gospel.
INSTRUCTION: Stay with the gospel of Christ.
PRAYER: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Amen.
QUOTE: There is no sentimentality in legality.
