YOU HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST

“For who hath the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ” – 1 Corinthians 2:16

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:  You have the mind of Christ

What makes your dealings with God as a believer become effectual and productive is the influence of the mind or Spirit of Christ in you. The believer in Christ is not ignorant of the mind of God concerning him. He is not the one who is not sure whether God loves him or not. The believer is not confused as to whether he is under a curse or is blessed beyond a curse. He is not thinking failure, rather he is thinking success. He is not thinking sickness instead of divine health. He is not thinking of giving up on God rather he is the one saying, ”who can separate me from the love of Christ”. Romans 8:32-39 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?; who shall lay any charge to God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

The mind or the Spirit of Christ in you creates a conscience that is very much alive, and which helps you to think, imagine things, act, walk, speak, love etc like Christ; because you have the mind of Christ. In Romans 6:4, Apostle Paul admonishes the believer to now walk in the newness of live, having received the new life in Christ.

INSTRUCTION: walk in the newness of the life you have received in Christ.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you because you have given me the mind of Christ. I now think, walk, act and love like Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: Until you have the mind of Christ, you cannot act or love like Christ.

CHRIST IS OUR MEDIATOR

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, that man Christ Jesus” –

1Timothy 2:5

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: By the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, He is the mediator between God and men.

Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 59:2 cried out, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you that he will not hear”. This was in the Old Testament when man was still under the bondage of sin. But thanks be unto God, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ has taken care of the problem of sin. In Romans 6:14, the Bible says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you”. By the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, He has now become the mediator between God and men. The Bible records that God was in Christ reconciling the world – the world of sinners unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. God is not holding sin against you because of Jesus. Our sins were laid on him. The Bible says that He was made sin. He was not a sinner but the sins of the world were laid upon Him. Nobody today should pay the punishment for his or her sins, because Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for sin. He was judged for our sake (Isaiah 53:5). Because of the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf, the process of reconciling man back to God began. Man had been separated from God through Adam’s disobedience, but Christ Jesus reconciled us back to God through obedience even to death on the cross.

Colossians 1:21 declares, “And you, that were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight”. You are now qualified to appear before the throne of grace boldly without any guilt, condemnation or inferiority complex. You have been justified by grace. This is the gospel. You are justified not because of what you did or did not do but because of what Jesus did. His death, burial and resurrection has reconciled us back to the Father and brought us into oneness and fellowship with Him.

INSTRUCTION: Stay with the new Priesthood.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the gift of Christ Jesus to give me a right standing before you, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: In the new priesthood, everyone is a priest.

BUILT BY THE WORD

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” – Acts 20:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The Word of God is the overall life builder.

In our text for today, the Apostle Paul reveals that the Word of God is the ultimate builder of lives. All over the world, people spend time, energy and money to make themselves better. Some enroll in the best schools to get a good education and build their intellect. Others spend countless hours in the gym to put their bodies in shape. Some travel over the world to attend seminars to acquire business acumen. As good as all these activities are, nothing is as powerful as the word of God. The word of God is the overall life builder. No matter what state your life may be, if you can give attention to the word of God, it will build you up spiritually, mentally, financially and physically. This is the reason Apostle Paul was so confident to leave the brethren in the care of the word of God.

Are you in need of a good intellect? The Word of God says you have a sound mind (2Timothy 1:7). Do you want to grow spiritually? The Word of God is your spiritual body builder (1Peter 2:2). Do you want success in business and life in general? The word of God is your tool for building permanent success (Joshua 1:8). Are you desirous of good health and vitality? The Word of God is medicine to your body (Proverbs 4:22). The Word of God is designed to build your life and make you a success. The Word of God can make you what God wants you to be without struggles. Remember, Jesus told His first disciple; “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). God’s word is the panacea for total life building. It will take you from where you are now and make you the person of your dreams. Therefore, you must begin to build your life on it today.

INSTRUCTION: Receive the Word. Let the Word build you up.

PRAYER: Father, I am built up by your word, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: When Grace kidnaps you, no ransom is demanded.

THE WORD IS A LIFE-GIVER

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – 1 Peter 1:23

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:  The word gives life.

The Word of God is the food of the believer. The believer needs the word for his spirit man to grow. Just as the physical body needs food to grow, the spirit man also needs spiritual word which is the word of God in order to grow (1Peter 2:2). The Word of God gives life. It is the truth that the born again man is born of the seed of God which is the word of faith. When a man hears the gospel of salvation and believes, he becomes born of the word. Our text for today says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever”. This means that a born again man is born of the incorruptible seed which is the word of God. In Luke 8:11, Jesus said, “….The seed is the word of God”.

The word, seed, as used in our text for today is the Hebrew word, ‘sperma’, from which the English word, ‘sperm’ is derived. It is a life giving seed. This shows that the word of God gives life when it is received. The Word of God is spirit and they are life.  In John 6:63, Jesus says, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profited nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”.

INSTRUCTION: Receive the Word, receive life.

PRAYER: Father, I receive grace to continually feed on your word, to grow and enjoy my inheritance in Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: The word is food for the spirit man

CHRIST OUR STRENGTH

“And as such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits” – Daniel 11:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God is able to do more than enough if only you believe.

The almightiness of God is what makes for his dependability. This is why we can depend on Him for anything (Matthew 6:33). Salvation is comprehensive. But it is not enough to just be saved. You must know what is yours in salvation. The knowledge you have about God determines how far you can go (Philemon 1:6). When you know that Christ is your strength, you go about daily living with a renewed confidence and vigor knowing that you can always lean on Him. To lean on Christ is to shift to God’s side, casting all your burdens on Him. When you lean on Christ, you can defy all difficulties and challenges that come your way and break impossible records. To lean on Christ is to rely on Him for support and inspiration. Jesus admonishes us to cast all our loads upon him. It is a call of assurance, that He can handle all matter. Our victory in Christ Jesus is always.

When you lean on Him, you have divine support (2Corinthians 12:19). You can’t miss your target. When you discover how much support you enjoy from Him, you will recover all (Psalms 32:8). When you rely on Him, your safety and security are assured (Psalms 125:2; Psalms 32:6). When Christ is your strength, He will remain the source of your total supply (Psalms 36:8; Mark 9:23).

INSTRUCTION: Make God the only source of your strength and protection.

PRAYER: I declare that impossibilities are far from my realm because Christ is my source, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: All that we need in life has already been provided in Christ.

HIS DEATH: A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO SIN

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:8

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:

Christ died for our sin.

T

he giving of Jesus to us was not His birth or His incarnation. God gave Jesus to us on the Cross where He died. This is why the incarnation of Christ is not the gospel but it is fundamental to the gospel. To pay for sin requires only one step and that is death. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. Jesus took our place in death that we might have eternal life through Him. Romans 8:32 says “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things”. The word “spared not” is used for judgment. This means God allowed judgment to come on His only Son. Christ’s love for us became His motivation and it became a righteous act for Him to die. The word “delivered up” means to hand over, which is used for betrayal. God never delivered up Jesus to Himself but to His enemy (death). His death for us was a willing death. Ephesians 5:2 says “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour”. Christ is not trying to love us but He had already loved us to the point of dying for us. He had destroyed him that had the power of death. Hebrews 2:14-15 says “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage”. In all that Jesus has done, we are just the beneficiaries. We did not contribute anything. God’s attitude towards sinners is that of favour. God does not use sin, He does not tempt with sin, and He does not overlook sin. God favoured sinners on a legal ground (that is, by the death of His Son). The favour you receive when you have Christ is the same favour you will enjoy all through the days of your life. Matthew 26:28 says “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”. The word “remission of sin” is from the Greek word “haphesis” which means to take it away or no record for it. Both the nature and acts of sin have been taken away. The blood of Jesus is a permanent solution for sin. His blood has taken sin away from our relationship with God. The moment you come into Christ, sin loses its power over your relationship with God. God stood in eternity and paid for sin for life. This means our sin is eternally forgiven by the one-time death of Christ. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION:

Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for paying for my sin with your life, in Jesus name.

ALL THINGS ARE FREELY GIVEN

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” – Romans 8:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: in Christ, all things are freely given to them that believe.
The truth of the gospel is that everything man lost and will ever lose in God is unbelief. Adam and Eve lot it because they did not believe the Word of God. In Christ, all things are freely given to them that believe. God has never had any problem with giving anything to man. He only has a problem with man’s capacity to deliver on his promises. God does not deal with people who do not have confidence in Him and in His Word. The Holy Spirit is very intelligent. He does not talk to foolish people. For the things of the Spirit is foolishness with the carnal man. We can see from our text for today that God is a generous Father. He does not withhold any good thing from His sons. Even when we were without hope and of no use to Him; in our hopelessness, “But God commendeth His love towards us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
A believer in Christ Jesus has the advantage over the people in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, they were living on the promises and prophecies of God based on fulfillment of certain conditions. But in the New Testament, a believer in Christ lives in the reality of those prophecies and promises based on the relationship created by what Christ has done, on our behalf, which we believe. Therefore, our inheritance in God is already made available; for we are now blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. A believer in Christ is not looking for material things like houses, cars, promotion, healing etc. all these things have already been made available freely in Christ Jesus. When we seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, every other thing becomes an addition in our lives.
INSTRUCTION: Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing shall be added to you.
PRAYER: Lord,  I appropriate all that the finished work of Christ on the Cross have wrought for me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: A believer in Christ does not look for things; He already has all things.

DELIVERANCE IS A MESSAGE

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” – Luke 4:18

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Nothing delivers a man like the gospel.

Deliverance is a message and not a practice. It is not about breaking of bottles of anointing oil but it is about the preaching of the gospel to the captives. A captive is an unsaved man or the unbeliever. The ministration of the gospel brings deliverance to the unsaved man. Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 61:1-2 prophesied about Christ. Jesus Christ is the good news that must be preached. This good news is the gospel which is the birth, death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The word, ‘preach’ as used in Luke 4 vs 18-19 is to publish or announce the good news. It also means to explain or to communicate. In Romans 1:16, Apostle Paul declares, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jews first and also to the Greek”. Thus, the gospel is the power of God. The gospel is what Christ Jesus made available to us (2Corinthians 2:15).

To be delivered is to be translated from darkness into light. It is a movement from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13). The power of darkness referred to here is sin and Satan. When you are under the authority of Satan, you are in darkness. But when you receive Christ via the preaching of the gospel, you come under the authority of God. To be delivered is to have your sins forgiven and this can only come after you have heard the gospel preached. The greatest deliverance is to have your sins forgiven. This is what the gospel brings - The good news about the forgiveness of sins. Sin was the common identity of man. Not every man is poor, sick or in lack. But all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The gospel when preached brings deliverance from the power of sin and death. Praise the Lord!!!

INSTRUCTION: Go after the Gospel of Christ

PRAYER: Father, thank you for delivering me from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of your dear Son, in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: Deliverance is a message and not a practice.

ALWAYS IN HIS PRESENCE

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

 1 Corinthians 3:16

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are the presence of God.

There are many Christians who, when they come to church, would say, “Lord, we have come into your presence”. And when they leave church, they feel that they have left the presence of God. Some would even pray for the presence of God to come down or follow them everywhere. But you must understand that as a child of God, you do not ‘come’ into the presence of God neither do you go out of it. You are forever in the presence of God. You are the presence of God. When you enter a place, you enter with God’s presence. You bear His presence. You are the temple of the living God, who dwells in you by the Holy Spirit. When you became born again, Christ took up His abode in you. The headquarters of divinity was relocated to the quarters of your heart. He is in you now, and you are in Him. In Him you live, move and have your being (Acts 17:28). He did not come into you to leave again after some time. He is forever in you. The presence of God does not just come to rest on you; the presence of God is within you. In the Old Testament, the Spirit would come and rest on the people for a while. This was before the Holy Spirit came to take up His abode in our hearts. It is an everlasting indwelling. The Spirit of God dwells in you, and He is the conveyor of the presence and blessings of God, and all that has been given to us in Christ.

Have this consciousness that you are a God-carrying vessel, and you live in His presence every day. This is what it means to be in Christ. You are in the divine environment; the environment of His glory and divine essence. As a born again Christian, God now dwells in you by His Spirit. The power of any believer lies in the consciousness of who he is and what he carries. Until you know that the Greater One lives in you, you will continue to walk and live in fear of what is supposed to be under your feet. As a believer, you must know that God is with you, in you and for you at all times. When you know who you are in Christ; what you have in Him and; what Christ can do through you, it does not matter what is against you, you will be confident that in all these things, you are more than a conqueror.

INSTRUCTION: Constantly study the Bible to know the Truth for therein lie your victory and strength.

PRAYER: Lord, I am more than more than a conqueror. I receive the spirit of love, power and sound mind, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

QUOTE: The strength of your freedom is determined by your knowledge of the truth.

HE DWELLS IN YOU (2)

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Everything Jesus Came to accomplish was aimed at Christ dwelling in you.

The essence of Christianity is Christ in you; that is the power and glory of Christianity. When some people say, ‘Christ is in me’, they are merely repeating a religious cliché. They have not really grasped the import of that statement. Everything Jesus came to accomplish was aimed at reproducing Christ in you. Christ in you is everything. Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin, He saved us for a purpose! Saving us from sin was a means to an end which was to make each one of us God’s living tabernacle, in such a way that we become one with Him. The ultimate aim of Christianity is reproducing Christ here on earth. It is an extraordinary thinking. It reveals the excellence of God’s mentality. God didn’t just make us His house; He made us one with Himself. Together, we are one divine creation. For the Bible says, “….for that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

God’s ultimate purpose was to reproduce Himself in us and He has achieved this through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. He didn’t just want to have children; His idea was to reproduce Himself and have associates of the God-kind. You may look at your life now with all that is happening around you and your life doesn’t seem like you are anything close to being an associate of the God-kind. This is why God wants you to focus on His Word and see that your royal and priestly life has begun. The Holy Spirit in you is the assurance, the guarantee and the realization of this glorious life. Halleujah!!

INSTRUCTION: Focus on the Word not on your situation.

PRAYER: Christ in me, the hope of glory, Amen.

QUOTE: You are a walking resurrection.

HE DWELLS IN YOU (1)

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are a carrier of the presence of God.

In the Old Testament, the children of Israel transported the presence of God from place to place every time they carried the Tabernacle of Witness, which contained the Ark of the Covenant. The only thing in the ark was God’s commandments. Today, your heart is the Ark of God; that is where the Word is. Remember what the Bible says in Jeremiah 31:33, “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people”. This was fulfilled in us when we got born again. We were born again by the Word of God and became living epistles, “written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God – not in tables of stones, but with the fleshy tables of the heart” (2 Corinthians 3:3).

You are now a living ark of testimony and the tabernacle of His presence, “For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people” (2 Corinthians 6:16). God dwells in you now. You have become a carrier of His divine presence. You are God walking here on earth. God walks the earth through you. Wherever you enter, God enters. Your hand is God’s hands, your feet has become God’s feet your mouth has become His mouth. God walks and talks through you. You are in Him and He’s in you. Not only are you now in the presence of God, you carry the presence of God. The headquarters of divinity has been relocated to your inside. Every time you show up in a place, you show up with the presence of God. As a carrier of His divine presence, you are not permitted to leave any ugly situation the same way you met it. Christ in you; the hope of Glory. Alleluia!!

INSTRUCTION: You are a walking epistle. Make sure your life sends the right message.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for your Spirit which lives in me. Therefore, sickness has no right to dwell alongside your presence in me, in Jesus Name. Amen.

QUOTE: You are a walking Presence of God.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR REALM BY THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD

“If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How by revelation he made known unto me the mystery as I wrote afore in few words” – Ephesians 3:2-3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: We are spirit beings invoked by Christ’s reincarnation.

Paul in his teaching ministry has asserted clearly how we should follow the gospel especially as it concerns the work of the Spirit. The scripture explicitly tells us that we are born of the Spirit. This therefore means that we are spirit beings. God is a spirit and true worshippers must worship Him in spirit and in truth. If God is a spirit, then we who have been made in His image and likeness are spirit personified. According to Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they take up any deadly thing; it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover”. This is the realm in which believers in Christ Jesus operate. You have been given full spiritual license to operate and give directions.

Always utilize your God-given grace through your utterances. Assume your realm at all times. Never be intimidated any moment you have the opportunity to invoke divinity to subdue situations of life. It is your birthright as an heir of salvation. Proclaim Jesus; speak healing at all times. Do not be subdued by the circumstances of life around you. Enforce your realm. When you understand your realm by the spirit of the Lord, there is no limit from which you can explore the universe.

INSTRUCTION: Declare a thing and it shall be established. You are a spirit being.

PRAYER: Father, help me to understand my realm in the spirit, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: You can never be effective until you know.

YOU ARE FREE INDEED

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” – John 8:36

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: As a believer in Christ Jesus, you have no past records of sin.

The problem of the believer in Christ is not sin but that of sin consciousness (Hebrews 10:1-2). Daily confession of sin is to be conscious of sin, it can never stop sin. Rather, it is to manifest sin. The annual sacrifice of atonement in the Old Testament was not powerful enough to purge sin. They were just a shadow of the real thing to come (Hebrews 10:13). The one-time sacrifice of Christ took care eternally of the problem of sin. Yes, Jesus died in our stead. He took the punishment in our place. It is illegal to punish a man twice for an offence. Christ bore our offences and paid the penalty. We have been justified based on the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross (Romans 3:23-26).we have been justified freely. To be justified is to be totally restored. By law, everybody was a sinner for all had sinned. When Adam transgressed, everything on earth was corrupted. God could not access the earth anymore. He had to use a medium to regain access to the earth from Satan. The incarnation of God was God identifying with humanity. Through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, man now has a right standing with God.

Christ had given Himself as a sacrifice for our sanctification (Ephesians 5:2). The death, burial and resurrection of Christ grant us freedom. We are now favored by God. We are now accepted in the beloved (1John 2:1). When you are in Christ, He automatically becomes your advocate and mediator. The real reason He manifested was to take away sins. Therefore, sin no longer has the power to affect your relationship with God. You have been freed from the power of sin and death. You are free indeed.

INSTRUCTION: Enjoy the freedom Christ has wrought for you.

PRAYER: Father, I enforce redemption in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: You are free indeed

A NEW MAN IN CHRIST

“Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new” – 2Corinthians 5:17

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The new creation is the most amazing creation of God.

The new creation is the most amazing creation of God. After the fall of Adam, man was no longer in union with God. Man was completely separated from God. Man was denatured from the nature of God and took upon a new nature that was strange to God. He became sin and died spiritually. Man completely lost fellowship and could no longer commune with God. As such, man became lost to the love of God. Man became hopeless and helpless. But the love of God towards man made God begin the process of reconciling man back to Himself. God had to send Christ Jesus to die for man in order to restore the relationship between God and man. According to John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”.

The mystery behind the new creation is his belief or faith in Christ. A new creation is a Spirit. He is born of God. God is a Spirit. Therefore, that which is born of God is also a Spirit (John 3:6). He is not a biological product but a product of the incorruptible Word of God (1Peter 1:23). A new creation is not a renovation of Adam but a total reborn man. He is not a product of the blood, hence is not permitted to be afflicted by blood diseases (john 1:13). A new creation is a word agent. He is the Word personified. He is a product of the Word. A new creature is a carrier of the divine nature. He is a partaker of the divine nature. Whatever God can do is what he can do. A new creation is a co-creator. Though he lives in the world, a new creation is not of the world (Galatians 2:20; 1John 2:16). You cannot be of the world and overcome the world. Therefore, the new creation is an over comer.

INSTRUCTION: Know who you are in Christ.

PRAYER: Father, may the eyes of my understanding be enlightened to know my identity in Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: You cannot be in the world and overcome the world.

SALVATION IS THROUGH CONFESSING CHRIST

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” – Romans 10:9

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You do not confess sin to be saved. You confess Christ.

When Adam transgressed by disobedience, sin entered into the world. Adam lost his original nature and took upon the nature of sin (Romans 5:12). Through sin, death came into the world. There can be no death without sin. Whatever can handle sin can also handle death. Jesus Christ brought forgiveness of sins. Through the one time sacrifice of Christ on the cross, sin was removed or deleted completely. A believer in Christ does not have a sin problem because Christ completely dealt with the problem of sin by His sacrifice on the cross. John 1:29 says, “Behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world”. Jesus Christ was made sin. He was not a sinner but was made sin so that He could pay the price for sin because the wages of sin is death. Christ Jesus paid the penalty for sin through His vicarious sacrifice on the Cross.

In the Old Testament under the levitical order, sin was only atoned for. When the Priests sacrificed bulls and goats, there was a cover up of sin. Moreover, this was done only once a year. In the new priesthood under Christ Jesus our High Priest, we are no longer to confess sin. There is no daily or yearly confession of sin anymore. When you confess sin, you are ignorant of your Bill of Rights as a believer in Christ Jesus. As a believer in Christ who has the knowledge and understanding of his true identity in Christ Jesus, you are to constantly declare your right standing with God. You have been justified and you now have peace with God through Christ Jesus. This means that God is no longer angry with you because of Christ Jesus. As God looks at you, He doesn’t see you but He sees Jesus. Therefore, you must confess Christ to be saved and not confess sin. The more you confess sin, the more sin conscious you become. You must understand that the penalty for your sin has been paid. Hallelujah!!

INSTRUCTION: Always remember that the price for sin has been paid.

PRAYER: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, Amen
QUOTE: The more you confess sin, the more sin conscious you become.

YOU ARE SIN-FREE

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” Hebrews 1:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:

Christ has paid for our sins; there is no need to doubt.

T

he word “purged” means to clear out. The same word is also used for remission which means to take away or remove. Friends, our sins have been cleared out, taken away and removed forever. When sins are purged, such record does not exist anymore. Hebrews 8:12 says “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more”. A believer in Christ does not have past records. Sin is not the problem of the church but sin consciousness. Hebrews 9:14 says “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Daily confession of sins does not stop sin. Hebrews 10:1-2(NLT) says “The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshippers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.” To confess sin is to approve sin, live in sin and become sin. When a guilty man has been punished, he is no longer guilty. Christ has been punished for our sins. Therefore, we cannot be punished again. God, based on the sacrifice of Jesus, has justified us freely. He has redeemed us from the law of sin and death. The sin of Adam corrupted man and the entire planet. So God could not use anything to redeem man except Himself (John 1:14 &18). Christ became sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God through Him. The sacrifice of Jesus is the only answer to sin consciousness; it is the reason for our right standing with God, and it is the gift of God to us (Ephesians 2:8-9). Righteousness is by faith (believing) and it is a gift. Jesus is our Advocate – speaking to God on our behalf. He is our helper who stands and speaks for us. His birth was a manifest of what was spoken (Matthew 1:21-23). Sin can never stand between God and a believer in Christ. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Purge your conscience. Your sins have been paid for.

PRAYER: I am the righteousness of God through Christ.

QUOTE: You confess Christ to be saved and not sins.

WE HAVE BEEN UNITED WITH GOD

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” – Romans 5:1

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God had to step out of God and come to man in order to bring man back to Himself.

By Adam’s disobedience, man became alienated from God. He became an enemy to God. Having peace with God became a major problem of man. Man became carnal having separated from God “Because the carnal man is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:7). So it was difficult for God to get a man of faith per time and without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Although Chapter 11 of the Book of Hebrews gives an idea of some persons who had a dimension of peace with God by their personal faith in God; God had to step out of God and come to man in order to bring man back to Himself. Man did not have what it takes to go to God; Salvation is all about God coming to man. Today, we have been united collectively with God because we are of the same body called the Body of Christ. The enmity between God and man was collective in Adam, because in Adam, all sinned and came short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

Ephesians 2:11-12 says, “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; that at that time ye were without God in this terrible world, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world”. This shows the helplessness and hopelessness of man. Man was in such a terrible state. But verses 13 to 16 of that scripture show the dimensional shift brought about by Christ. They read, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For He is our peace, who hath made us one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself twain one new man, so making peace”. Therefore, you have no reason not to enjoy the peace of God. Christ has reconciled us back to God. He has made us one and united with God. No more condemnation; no more charges. Praise the Lord!!!

INSTRUCTION: Enjoy the peace made available to you in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER: Father, thank you for reconciling me back to you through Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen.

NO MORE CONDEMNATION!

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit” Romans 8:1

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:

Once you arrive in Christ, you have escaped judgment.

T

he word “condemnation” is a legal term used for passing verdict. The same word is also used for damnation. The word “condemnation” is actually a judgment and it is a sentence to serve the required punishment as written in the law. Once you arrive in Christ, you have escaped the white throne judgment. It is only your services to God here on earth that will be tried, and rewards given accordingly. Jesus went to Hell on our behalf in order to redeem us from it. He was judged, discharged and acquitted on our behalf. Romans 5:17-18 says “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life”. Until you understand the word of God about salvation, you would not think in the direction of God. By Adam’s disobedience, sin came into the world and by the obedience of Christ; righteousness came to all that believe in Christ. It is the righteousness of Christ that frees men from sin and condemnation. Righteousness is a state of being right or being treated as someone who has never committed any sin. If that is how God sees us and relates with us, we must stop acting as criminals. He didn’t save us to leave us. Righteousness is not an act but a gift. It was not given to us because we stopped doing wrongs. Once you discover God’s system, your life will be right. The gospel brings the gift of no condemnation into our life. That is the good news!

INSTRUCTION:

Stay in the liberty that Christ has given you.

PRAYER:

Lord, I am free from condemnation, in Jesus name

QUOTE: Once you discover God’s system, your life will be right.

ESTABLISHED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

“In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shalt not come near thee” Isaiah 54:14

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:  Righteousness is a gift

T
he word “righteousness” means to have a  right standing with God. Righteousness cannot be earned but can only be received because it is the free gift of God to us. Resurrection is righteousness and justification. There are no steps to righteousness but only one step and that is Christ. The gift of God does not require steps but just to receive it (Ephesians 2:8-9). We have to explore righteousness and salvation. We were not saved by obeying some dressing codes and we do not need any dressing code to remain saved. Your identity in Christ is what keeps you moving, and establishes you. Our righteousness is as a filthy rag before God. It is not about dressing codes but it is about His work for us. Philippians 3:9 says “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith”. The day you become born-again is the day you become righteous. Until you lay hold on His righteousness, your righteousness is useless. Righteousness is not a reward or payment for good works or a crown for winning a competition or similar thing but it is God’s gift. You cannot be righteous by prayers, fasting nor dressing codes. Righteousness was given to secure us from judgment, oppression and fear. Righteousness closes the door against the enemies from accessing our lives. You would not be bold to confront your enemies if you are not established in righteousness. God’s righteousness speaks. Romans 10: 6 says “But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh in this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)”. You cannot demand and command, neither can you decree and have it if you are not established in righteousness. God is too righteous to undo what He did.  Redemption is in His blood. He forgave our sins not as an answer to our prayers but as a gift to secure our salvation. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION:
Live in God’s righteousness.

PRAYER:
Lord, I am established in righteousness, in Jesus name

QUOTE: We were not saved by obeying some dressing codes.
