“That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved” – Romans 10:9
LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You do not confess sin to be saved. You
confess Christ.
When Adam transgressed by disobedience, sin
entered into the world. Adam lost his original nature and took upon the nature
of sin (Romans 5:12). Through sin, death came into the world. There can be no
death without sin. Whatever can handle sin can also handle death. Jesus Christ
brought forgiveness of sins. Through the one time sacrifice of Christ on the
cross, sin was removed or deleted completely. A believer in Christ does not
have a sin problem because Christ completely dealt with the problem of sin by
His sacrifice on the cross. John 1:29 says, “Behold the lamb of God which
taketh away the sins of the world”. Jesus Christ was made sin. He was
not a sinner but was made sin so that He could pay the price for sin because
the wages of sin is death. Christ Jesus paid the penalty for sin through His
vicarious sacrifice on the Cross.
In the Old Testament under the levitical
order, sin was only atoned for. When the Priests sacrificed bulls and goats,
there was a cover up of sin. Moreover, this was done only once a year. In the
new priesthood under Christ Jesus our High Priest, we are no longer to confess
sin. There is no daily or yearly confession of sin anymore. When you confess
sin, you are ignorant of your Bill of Rights as a believer in Christ Jesus. As
a believer in Christ who has the knowledge and understanding of his true
identity in Christ Jesus, you are to constantly declare your right standing
with God. You have been justified and you now have peace with God through
Christ Jesus. This means that God is no longer angry with you because of Christ
Jesus. As God looks at you, He doesn’t see you but He sees Jesus. Therefore,
you must confess Christ to be saved and not confess sin. The more you confess
sin, the more sin conscious you become. You must understand that the penalty
for your sin has been paid. Hallelujah!!
INSTRUCTION: Always remember that the
price for sin has been paid.
PRAYER: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,
Amen
QUOTE: The more you confess sin, the more sin
conscious you become.
