“Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it
is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of
Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive
the promise of the Spirit through faith” - Galatians 3:13-14
LIGHT FOR NOW: The blessing of Abraham is not a material thing, but salvation.
|
The true seed of
Abraham was not Isaac but Christ. If Isaac was killed by Abraham, the divine
purpose would have been thwarted. This is because Isaac was not the Lamb of
God. From our anchor scripture above, the blessing of Abraham here is not a
material thing, but it is salvation. Salvation is faith in Christ, and once you
have your faith in Christ, your sins are remitted (Luke 1:77). This is the
blessing of Abraham and it is not fault-finding. The arrival of the new
covenant made the first one obsolete. Hebrews 18:13 says “In that he saith, A new covenant,
he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to
vanish away”. No believer is expected to live in the Old Testament.
Romans 10:4 says “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that
believeth”. There was no Old Testament in the beginning. Old Testament
did not even start in Egypt, but it started after the children of Israel had
left Egypt. Hence, the law was not strong enough to cancel the promise of God
to Abraham. Galatians 3:17 says “And this I say, that the covenant, that was
confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty
years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect”.
Where a believer is, the law of Moses is not effective. The blessing of Abraham
is Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:16 says “Now to Abraham and his seed were the
promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to
thy seed, which is Christ”.
Christ as the fulfilled
promise of God, and the blessing of Abraham, affects the entire human race
irrespective of one’s nationality. As the Savior of the world, anyone who
receives Him is a partaker of the blessing.
Yes, believers in Christ are the true sons of God (John 1:12)!
INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge Christ as the fulfillment of God’s promise to us.
PRAYER: Father, I receive all that Christ had paid for, in Jesus name.
QUOTE: The promise of God to Abraham was Christ.
