“I will lift up mine eyes unto the
hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made
heaven and earth” – Psalm 121:1-2
LIGHT FOR NOW: Jesus is the help of God to man.
The help of God is one of the most sustaining
force of God to man. Every man is nothing or can do nothing except by the help
of God. This is why the Psalmist resolved in our text for today to look unto
the Lord, where his help comes from. In John 15:5, Jesus says, “I am
the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same
bringeth forth much fruit: for without me, ye can do nothing”. This is
to say that Jesus is the source of our help. Jesus is the help of God to man.
Apostle Paul in Acts 26:22 acknowledged the help of God towards his ministry.
He says, “Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day,
witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which
the prophets and Moses did say should come”. This means that Paul’s
ministry was fulfilled by the help of God. The help of God is the combination
of the mercy and grace of God given to man. This is why the writer of Hebrews
says in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne
of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in time of need”.
To come boldly to the throne of Grace is to
come with the heart free from condemnation. Come as you are without any
pretense. In John 3:20-21, Apostle John told us, “For if our heart condemn us, God
is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart
condemn us not, then we have confidence towards God”. This confidence
is what makes you to come boldly to God to obtain mercy and find grace in time
of need. In the New Testament, the throne of God where we go to for mercy is
our hearts. The heart of man is the throne of God. This is the reason we need
to assure our hearts. This is why the first point the devil attacks in the life
of a believer is his belief system. He
creates doubts in your heart. When you assure your heart, you become
impenetrable to Satan.
INSTRUCTION: Assure your heart in the salvation
handed over to you in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: Lord, my heart is eternally focused on the
help of God, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: if you have anything to doubt, doubt your
doubts
