CHRIST IS OUR HIGH PRIEST

“For every High Priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices; wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer” Hebrews 8:3.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: All that Christ paid for is our covenant right.

As the high priest of the church, Christ is to tske our tithes, offerings and sacrifices. As believers in Christ, we do not have sin problem because our sins have been eternally forgiven (Colossians 1:14; Romans 5:17). But for Jesus to function as our High Priest, He must have something in His hands to offer on our behalf. Acts 10:4 says, ”And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, what is it, Lord? And he said unto him, thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God”. Also 1 Peter 2:5 says, “Ye also, as lively stones are built up ma spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ”. As a believer in Christ, your salvation is guaranteed but for you to succeed here on earth, Christ must have something in His hands to present on your behalf. Tithing can never be over-emphasized. It is a spiritual and a scriptural principle. There was tithing even before Moses. Here, there are two types of tithing: Tithing under the Levitical Order (Old Testament) and tithing under the priesthood of Jesus.

Tithing under the Levitical Order was an obligation. It was a requirement for blessings. People paid tithe out of fear of curses so that their lands could produce. But tithing under the Melchizedek Order (New Testament) which could be likened to the Priesthood of Jesus is when the people give a portion of what they have already been blessed with. In the Old Testament, people gave so that they could be blessed but in the New Testament, people give out of what they have already been blessed with. Genesis 14:18-20 says, “And Melchizedek King of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all”. Tithing is a scriptural principle that recognizes God as the source of all supply. It is an indication that the love of God is at work in you. Tithing is also an indication to show that you have overcome greed. Jesus died so that the blessings of Abraham can be transferred to us (Galatians 3:13-16).

INSTRUCTION: Recognize God as your source.

PRAYER: Lord, I connect with the blessings of Abraham through Christ, in Jesus name!

QUOTE: The content of a New Creature is the content of the Word.
