THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD

“Forever, o Lord, thy word is settled” Psalm 119:89

LIGHT FOR NOW: God does not react; He pro-acts.

The humanity of Jesus was the revelation of the sovereignty of God. God is sovereign and nobody dictates to Him. God is independent of control, above everything. Circumstances do not make God do what He does not want to do. God cannot be manipulated. He cannot be boxed into a corner. God does not change His mind. For God to change His mind means that something took Him unawares. Nothing takes God unawares. God does not react; He pro-acts. God’s judgment has been concluded in Christ. The judgment of God is not a reaction but a pro-action depending on the choice of a man. Situations and circumstances of life do not unsettle the Word of God. We can see the sovereignty of God only in Christ; not in individual differences. Jesus Christ is the sovereignty of God explained. You can never know the sovereignty of God outside Christ. All of God’s plans are authenticated the moment a man believes in Christ.

God’s purpose is to bless in Christ (Ephesians 1:1-6). All of God’s purpose is revealed in Christ. The love of God towards man is expressed in Christ. Jesus unveils the sovereignty of God. We are only made alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:1-5). Everything God has done is in Christ not in individuals. Therefore, individual wrongs cannot neutralize or cancel the effect of what Christ has eternally done. Every attempt to live the Christian life outside Christ is a failure. The Christian life is lived by believing. When you come into Christ, there are no changes to be made. You only receive change. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).  There is no performance or works in Christ. Christ is the Grace of God personified.
