GOD LOVES YOU (2)

“The lord that appeared of old unto me, saying, yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee” Jeremiah 31:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The love of God comes with kindness to draw us closer to himself.

In God's love, you don’t pray to receive kindness, it comes to you naturally. It is in his love you find life, wealth and health. The love of God for you is undiluted. As He had loved you before, He still loves you now and will keep on loving you all the way till eternity. As a result of his love toward you, His mercies are new every morning just as it is recorded in Lamentation 3:22-23 that “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning great is thy faithfulness”.  In the love of God  His mercies are found and it will not  allow your enemies have dominion over you.

 His love for you is constant, It is not like the love of men that can wax cold. He allowed His son  Jesus to die as a proof of his unfailing love towards us. The Bible says “much more than, being now justified by freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Rom.5:9; 3:24). The love of God justifies you and draws you closer to Himself. His love covers the multitude of your sins as the Bible says “Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]” [1Peter 4:8; Prov. 10:12. AMP]. God does not need the opinion of anybody to love you. He loves you the way you are.

 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom.5:8). God loves you beyond words. Christ is the proof of His love towards you. In His love, you are marked right and in His love you are perfected.

INSTRUCTION: Give Jesus a chance in your life!

GOD LOVES YOU (1)

“For God so loved the world that, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The love of God to you is expressed in the gift of Christ.

Many claims to love but not many have the ability to proof the love. Men love because of what they desire to get. The love of man is conditional. This is why when that condition is not met, disappointment will be inevitable. But the love of God to you is unconditional. This is why He gave Jesus His only begotten son to die for you in order to make you alive in Him. The place you were supposed to die, He sent His son to take your place. This is why Bible says in Romans 5:8, “But God commended his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

You see it was out of love that God gave Jesus to die for you even when you were rotten deep in sin. You are not qualified to be loved by God but He loves you still. Men can only love the people who are good to them. But you don’t need to be good to be loved by God. He loves you the way you are. He understands that you are weak, He understands you can’t love Him the way He expect, so He had to send His own love to cover your own love for Him. God is not looking for you to love Him. He only wants you to believe and trust in the love He has for you so that you will not perish in the hands of the enemy. This is why He says that whosoever believes in Jesus will not perish but will have everlasting life. In the love of God, there is eternal life for you. In His love, there is wealth and riches for you (2Cor 8:9) in His love, there is healing and perfect health for you (Is. 53:5). Everything you need is this life and after this life is found in God’s love (2cor.9:8). All you need is to believe in that love he has provided for you and you will be counted among the saved and then harvest all that is there in the love.

Men only love when they have what to gain from you, but God loves without expecting anything from you. It is called ‘agape.’ It is an excess love extravagantly showered on an unqualified sinner. In this love, your colour does not count, your language is not looked on, your size is not measured, your status is not the standard, your location does not matter and your appearance is not a determinant factor. The only standard is Christ crucified and Him resurrected.

INSTRUCTION: Believe in the love of God.

THE FAITH THAT WINS (2)

“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is the word of faith which we preach” Romans 10:8.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: When you speak faith into that situation, it can never remain the same.



The Word of God is the bedrock for the force of faith. Words are containers of spiritual forces. When you release positive words, situations change for the better. Anytime you want to enter a new level, words are needed to push you there. When you speak faith into any situation, that situation can never remain the same. The way you react to God’s Word matters a lot. If you must overcome the challenges of life, you must learn to always respond in faith to God’s word. You must learn to function in the arena of faith where the only thing that matters is the Word of God. No matter the storms of life, you must always speak positive words for when men say there is a casting down, you shall say there is a lifting up (Job 22:29). As a believer, you must consciously speak life into any situation you find yourself for the words we speak are spirit and they are life. Never allow your physical senses (what you see, feel, or hear) determine the circumstances of your existence.  The Bible speaking in 2Corinthians 4:8 says, “While we look not at things that are seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”.

You cannot take anything in the realm of the spirit without your faith. Faith is a word. Prayer is not lamentations neither is it complaining. Prayer is taking God’s word back to God. Thus, faith is the Word of God. You can overcome the battles of life only through faith. Therefore, you must hold fast to your faith. Ephesians 6:16 says, “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”.Faith shields you from all evil enchantments. Having believed and had faith in Jesus, you become God by nature. Through your faith in Jesus Christ, you are a son of God. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name…” When you believe right, you speak right and achieve the right results. Never allow the circumstances of life make you confess negatively for your words are the compass of your life.

THE FAITH THAT WINS (1)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith” Romans 1:16-17.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Faith controls all the activities of God.          

Faith for miracles is different from faith for salvation. If your life is without, you can use faith to create whatever you need. At new birth, your sins were forgiven and God’s nature was deposited in you. The death of Christ forgives your sins and restores your relationship with God. Faith is one of the strongest weapons that every believer should have. Nothing can say no to faith (Mark 11:22-23). Faith controls all the activities of God. Faith is not a philosophy, but it is the spiritual power God uses to produce anything. Faith reveals God, proves God and announces God. The law of faith controls the physical and the spiritual. Faith is the spiritual currency you use to purchase in the realms of the spirit. Your life will remain helpless until faith is engaged (Mark 9:23). Matters that concern destinies are not solved by emotional tears but by actions. God will only act when you react.

Faith is a force and power that keeps all matters in place. The quality of your life is the quality of faith you have. Nothing fails in faith. When your faith is up, you cannot be down in life. The fight of faith is the fight of victory. The fight of faith will always bring a good report in life. It guarantees your inheritance. You cannot possess what is yours without a fight. When you want to take what is yours and the devil tries to stop you, you engage the fight of faith by your declarations. Your words are the compass of your life. Every word is a product of your thought. Your words create your future and your thoughts design the future. Faith is like a stubborn bull dog that does not leave a bone the same way he met it until he crushes it and reduces it to nothing. There is no other way to fight in life than to fight the good fight of faith. Many confess faith but only a few contend with it. You must move from merely confessing faith to actually putting your faith into use. It is the faith you put into use that gives you results to terminate your insults. When a man walks in faith, no other force on earth can stop him.

THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” Romans 5:17

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Righteousness is the state of a man who has been declared right by God.

God is just, perfect and righteous at all times. The word, ‘just’ is translated ‘edujustice’. Also in Hebrew, ‘tsedaqah’ means to do justice and to do right. In Greek word, ‘dikaoo’ means to justify; treat as proper and to deal as right. All these words are only used for God. Abraham was declared justified by God because of his faith. God testifying of Abraham in Genesis 18:19 says, “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that which he hath spoken of him”. So, righteousness is a state of a man who has been declared right by God. Apostle Paul speaking in Romans 3:24-26 says, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forebearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus”. The means through which God justifies a man is through the redemption that is in Christ.

Righteousness is not a good moral conduct. It is a gift of God. Righteousness is not forgiveness of sins but to be declared right. You are what you are and whatever you will be by belief. The word, ‘ungodly’ in the Greek word is ‘asebes’. It is used to refer to criminals, wicked people, morally bankrupt etc.  Righteousness is not a reward for good moral conduct; it is a gift from God. You do not pay for a gift. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.

INSTRUCTION:Believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross.

MORAL LIFE IS NOT RIGHTEOUSNESS

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: A good moral life does not equate righteousness.

In your walk with God, you have to understand that there is a huge difference between moral life and righteousness. Sometimes, we are tempted to think that God should look at our moral life and count it for righteousness. But the truth is that no matter how good your moral life is or how sincere you are, it will never amount to righteousness. We have quite a good number of honest people who are not righteous. There are people who do not steal, tell lies, fornicate, commit adultery or perform any other immoral acts but they are not righteous. God does not hear and answer your prayers because you are sincere or have a good moral life, He answers because you are righteous because of Jesus and your righteousness is the righteousness of Jesus. The Bible says, “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life” (Romans 5:18).

Righteousness is what gives you a right standing in the presence of God. Your moral life can never give you a right standing before God. Many people out of ignorance pray and cry to God making mention of their good moral life. This is because they are not aware of the truth of God’s Word. Never use your moral life as a currency. It is your faith – your faith in His righteousness – that produces results. Having been declared righteous, you have peace with God (Romans 5:1). This did not happen based on your moral life or personal effort. It happened because He gave you His righteousness. You cannot impress God with your good works. Jesus already impressed Him on your behalf. So, when you plead your case with God, it should not be based on your works but on the basis of your right standing with God in Christ Jesus.

INSTRUCTION:Never think you can impress God with your self-righteousness.

PRAYER:Lord, I thank you for making me righteous and giving me a right standing before God, in Jesus Name. Amen.

THE GOSPEL BRINGS LIFE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: There is no other way to learn about, receive, or understand the righteousness of God outside the gospel.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God to save men. His power to bring those who believe out of sin, into the life of righteousness is encapsulated in the gospel of His grace. There is no other way to learn about, receive or understand the righteousness of God outside the gospel. In 2 Timothy 1:10, the Apostle Paul shares another inspiring thought: through the gospel, life and immortality have been brought to light. What kind of life is he referring to? It’s the divine life; the God-type of life. It is this life that makes men sons of God and this life is only in Christ Jesus. 1 John 5:11-12 says, “…this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life”. We are the Righteousness of God in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. Righteousness has become the character of your spirit. The ability to be right is inherent in your spirit. 

Furthermore, you have, and can live the God-kind of life. This is the overcoming life that makes us superior to Satan, darkness, diseases, sickness, failure, defeat and death. It is a life that is beyond this world. This extraordinary life, along with the gift of righteousness was delivered to us in Christ, through the gospel.

INSTRUCTION:Accept Jesus, accept life.

ENFORCING YOUR VICTORY

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” 1 John 5:4

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: It takes a tireless spirit to enforce the victory.

To overcome, you must do it again and keep at it. That is the source of faith and a working faith is the faith that overcomes. Life is full of pitfalls and obstacles; therefore you must be ready to go again to overcome the obstacles of life. Life will always give you a negative report until you try again. It is your consistency that can turn the negative reports into positive reports. It takes a tireless spirit to enforce the victory. One of the things that hinder people from getting their victory is inconsistency. Consistency is required to make impact in life (1 Kings 18:43-45). It is stubborn faith that can handle stubborn situations. If you are a non-goer, your circumstances and situations will remain the same. Change only comes when you are a goer. The place of repeated attempts cannot be over emphasized. Repetition is allowed until you achieve your required results. God does not condemn you for making extra attempts but is not happy when you do not try at all. One more attempt is enough to erase all your disappointments, failures and pains of the past. If you do not go again, you will be counted as permanent failure.

Never allow people see you as a failure. You have been called by God to add value to your generation. You must keep at it until you have your desired results. The beauty of life is not formed until you are consistent. Life will always cost you something and you must be ready to give what life demands in order to have what life contains. You must swallow the obstacles and opposition to possess your possessions. Disbelieve every negative feeling and disregard people’s opinions. You are not a product of people’s opinion but a product of God.

INSTRUCTION:Be determined to succeed in life.

PRAYER:Lord, I receive grace to be victorious in all aspects of my life, in Jesus name.

HOW TO SHARE YOUR FAITH

“For by faith are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Believers are trophies of Christ’s victory.

Salvation is not of works. It is the pure gift of God to man. When you got born again, one of the discoveries is that others can also receive what you have. God has given us a ministry of reconciliation. As a born again child of God, your lifestyle must bring people to God. The scripture in 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place”. The word, ‘triumph’ means a proof of victory or a trophy of victory. We are the demonstration of the victory of Jesus. What is this victory? The victory is that Christ has destroyed him that had the power of death which is the devil (Hebrews 2:14). So, our victory is in Christ (Romans 8:37). The victory we have as believers in Christ is not because we fought for it, but Christ fought for it and delivered the victory to us.

The gospel is for everybody. There are no special qualification to preach the gospel. You were not born again in vain. We are vessels for God’s use. Salvation comes with responsibility. Jesus Christ has done everything in the context of fulfilling the scripture and it is now the responsibility of believers to make known the knowledge of Christ unto the World (Mark 16:15). Believers are the evidence of the finished work of Christ on the cross. We have been reconciled to God and are therefore now ministers of reconciliation. The knowledge of who you are in Christ has become a message to the world. Now that you are in Christ, you should be able to share that faith to others. The gospel is the story of Jesus Christ told to us by the Holy Ghost. So, in sharing your faith, you need the baptism of the Holy Ghost for it is the seal of your salvation.

INSTRUCTION:Preach the gospel with boldness to everyone.

PRAYER:Father, I receive the grace to bring more souls into your kingdom, in Jesus name.

YOU ARE A NEW MAN (2)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Being a new creation means that you are one of a kind, a special or peculiar being.

When you are born again, you were born and baptized into Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:13 says; “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…” You were baptized into the body of Christ, a new man, a new creature with a new life. You are not a renovation or a repair of Adam. No! You are born anew. Being a new creature means you are one of a kind, special and peculiar being. Our text for today says, “…old things have passed away; BEHOLD, all things are become new”. The highlighted word, “behold” means quite a lot though few people actually pay attention to its importance in that verse. It’s a word that calls your attention to a truth: God wants you to see that all things have become new. When you become born again, you have a new life. You are a new being, the old life and nature are supplanted by God’s divine nature. It was not just a mere change that took place when you got born again; it was an actual recreation of your human spirit. There was a total replacement of the life of which you were born of your parents, with the indestructible life of God. You have come alive to God through the New Birth. You are not someone who has merely become religious; you are a new person with a new life, without any past or record of sin.

You must understand that when the Bible says, “Old things have passed away”; it is talking about the old nature that was subject to sin, defeat, sickness, failure and death. That old nature is gone. All things have become new, and these new things are of God (2 Corinthians 5:18). Everything about your life now carries divinity in it. There is no connection between you and your past because in actual sense, you do not have any past anymore. You are a new creation; you are a brand new man. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). You are a new creation, a brand new species of being.

INSTRUCTION:Consciously acknowledge your new nature.

PRAYER:Lord, I thank you for the new nature you have given me in Christ Jesus, in Jesus name.

YOU ARE A NEW MAN (1)

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin” Romans 6:6-7

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Jesus Christ was raised from the dead for our justification.

When Jesus died, we died with Him. When He was buried, we were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, we were raised together with Him. We were in Him in His death, burial and resurrection. The Bible says, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-6).  The Bible also says in Romans 4:24-25, “But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification”. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead for our justification. We were not justified because He died; we were justified because He was raised from the dead.

Jesus Christ is the head of the new creation. He came up with a new life. He was recreated anew. This is why there were no marks or blemish on his body when he came back to life. The Bible says, “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). A new creation has no past. He has no record of sin. He is not a sinner who has been saved by grace.  His resurrection gave you a brand new life. You are a new creation; you are a brand new man.  There is no trace of sin in you.  “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

INSTRUCTION:As a new creation, walk in the newness of life.

PRAYER:Father, I thank you for the new life you have given me in Christ Jesus, in Jesus name.
