HE HAS FINISHED HIS WORK




“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his” Hebrews 4:10


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You only activate your faith to receive what God has already done.


Many Christians in churches today lack the understanding that God is no longer doing any work on their behalf. No! God is not in heaven trying to fix things on our behalf. He is resting. The account in Genesis Chapter 2 verse 2 states that after God created all He needed to create, God rested. “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which he had done”. This means that God has done everything that He ever needed to do for you to have and enjoy life to the full and now He is resting. Also 2 Peter 1:3 says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”. When your prayers are answered, it only means that you activated your faith to receive what God has already done for you. God is not doing any new work. Whatever He will do will be from whatever He has already done. Every invention on earth after creation is solely the responsibility of man. Man only makes use of the raw materials that God hath provided and bring about innovations and inventions to make his life here on earth beautiful and easy.

The more you study the Word of God, the more you will realize that God is really not doing anything for anybody today in the sense that many understand it. He has already done and fulfilled everything in Christ Jesus. He is not trying to heal you. Isaiah records that with His stripes, you were healed. He has already healed you. He has already given you all that pertains to life and godliness. What you need to do is to act on the Word and walk in your inheritance. Be all he has made you to be and enjoy all that He has made available for you in Christ.


INSTRUCTION: Be conscious of the finished work of Christ.

MADE ALIVE IN CHRIST




“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins” Ephesians 2:1


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The love of God is evidenced in Christ dying for us even when we are of no use to God.


The word, “quickened” in our text for today means “made alive”. “AND YOU [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1 AMP). This is a consciousness God wants us to have as His children. We have been made alive in Christ; the life of Christ is at work in your system. Every fibre of your being is inundated with the divine life and energy of God. Therefore, you are unconquerable and indestructible. Conside that Jesus Christ, the Son of God in truth, gave Himself for you on the cross and died as your savior, and that God raised Him from the dead to give you a new life. That life isn’t subject at all to defeat, failure or death. Hear what John 1:14 says about Him: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt amongst us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth”. In John 10:10, He emphasized that He came so that we might have life –His divine life- to the full. He couldn’t have done all these for nothing.

Therefore, as a Christian, you must live your life to show that what Jesus did was not for nothing: live up to His dream! Jesus the creator of the whole world, the maker of all things died for you, to give you a new life which is the impregnable life of God. This is something big and glorious. He thought us valuable and important to the Father. Therefore, you are not permitted to live an empty and unhappy life. The only way to show your gratitude for all He’s done for you is to live up to His standards, by maintaining your superiority and victory over Satan and his cohorts. You are the express image of His person, called to show forth the beauty and excellence of His divine life in you.


INSTRUCTION:Believe in the finished work of Christ.


PRAYER:Father, thank you for sending Jesus to die in my stead as a demonstration of your love for me, in Jesus name.

THE SPIRIT IS IN YOU




“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27.


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Everything Jesus Came to accomplish was aimed at Christ dwelling in you.


The essence of Christianity is Christ in you; that is the power and glory of Christianity. When some people say, ‘Christ is in me’, they are merely repeating a religious cliché. They have not really grasped the import of that statement. Everything Jesus came to accomplish was aimed at reproducing Christ in you. Christ in you is everything. Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin, He saved us for a purpose! Saving us from sin was a means to an end which was to make each one of us God’s living tabernacle, in such a way that we become one with Him. The ultimate aim of Christianity is reproducing Christ here on earth. It is an extraordinary thinking. It reveals the excellence of God’s mentality. God didn’t just make us His house; He made us one with Himself. Together, we are one divine creation. For the Bible says, “….But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

God’s ultimate purpose was to reproduce Himself in us and He has achieved this through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. He didn’t just want to have children; His idea was to reproduce Himself and have associates of the God-kind. You may look at your life now with all that is happening around you and your life doesn’t seem like you are anything close to being an associate of the God-kind. This is why God wants you to focus on His Word and see that your royal and priestly life has begun. The Holy Spirit in you is the assurance, the guarantee and the realization of this glorious life. Halleujah!!


INSTRUCTION:Focus on the Word not on your situation.

THE DYNAMICS OF A NEW CREATION




“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2Corinthians 5:17.


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God does not live in heaven but He lives in you.


There has been a lot of confusion in the church about who a new man in Christ is. The world has come to see a new man in Christ as an ordinary man because of wrong information. Until we have a deep knowledge of who a born again creature is, we will not be able to function fully in the power of God. A deep understanding of whom a born again creature is can be determined by how you relate with God or how you see God. Born again experience is a called experience. The Holy Spirit lives in a reborn man to lead and guide that life. The moment you receive God into your life, the Holy Spirit begins to live in you. It is the new birth that makes a difference between the old covenant and the new covenant. The most powerful creation of God is the rebirth of man. The rebirth of man is what Satan cannot comprehend. It is a mystery to Satan how God became man and man becomes God. This is what Satan cannot handle. Therefore, a born again child of God is a mystery to Satan. The devil has no right to predict you. As a new creation, you become unpredictable and unstoppable by the devil and his agents.

God does not live in Heaven but He lives in you. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says; “What! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not you own?” The rebirth of the human spirit makes it possible for us to be filled with the Holy Ghost. You cannot live right until He lives in you. The life you have at new birth is called light because that is your new nature. Your life as a new creation is connected to that light. A born again creature cannot be controlled by the forces of darkness. John 1 vs 4-5 says, “In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shinneth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”. What brought darkness to man was sin. Therefore, whatever can handle sin can also handle darkness. How fast and how far you go in life is a function of the kind of light you have. A car with a bad light cannot drive fast. A new creation is guided by God because God by nature is light.


INSTRUCTION: Go ahead and prosper.


PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to connect my life to your light, in Jesus name.

YOU NEED TO LEARN CHRIST




“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertains unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God is not known in the senses neither is he known by feelings.


The Bible in Ephesians 1:3 says that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Also, 1 Corinthians 3:21 declare, “All things are yours”. This is to prove that everything we need to live the good life here on earth has already been provided by God. But there is a condition attached. The latter part of our text for today points out this very important condition: it’s about your knowledge of Him. There is nothing we could ever need to live a good victorious life here on earth that is not already ours in Christ. However, making it a reality is a function of our knowledge of Him. This kind of knowledge is the full, exact knowledge which is translated in Greek, ‘epignosis’. God’s provisions for your life aren’t going to become a reality in your life simply because they are written in the Bible or because you sing it in a song that Abraham’s blessings are yours. There is a knowledge of Him you must have, a knowledge that unites the knower with that which is known; a knowledge beyond the senses, specific, precise and accurate knowledge without assumptions nor feelings. God is not known in the senses nor is he known by feelings.

When you know Christ, you do not just get to know and be able to appropriate all that He has given to you, you also get to know yourself. God’s Word mirrors you. The more you know Him, the more you also get to know yourself. You can never really know yourself as God knows you unless you know Him. He is the One who made you and therefore knows what is deposited inside of you and what you are capable of. He alone can reveal you to yourself. Therefore, the way to know Him and get to discover yourself is to study and meditate on the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:18 shows that God’s Word is a mirror that reveals your true nature. It says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”.


INSTRUCTION: Search and discover who you really are by looking into the mirror of God’s Word and getting to know the Lord.


PRAYER: I am what the Word says I am I have what the Word says I have, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

THERE IS NO LIFE OUTSIDE CHRIST




“For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 6:10-11.


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The life we have in Christ is eternal and it is not corrupt.


When we receive Christ, we receive His death. We were also buried with Him. The life we live now in Christ is called a new life which is eternal life and eternal life is not corrupt. Christ redeemed us from sin, sickness and death. A born again child of God has no sin to transgress. Jesus is the end of the law (Romans 10:4). The law is not for the righteous man (1Timothy 1:9-10). Jesus came to fulfil the law. In the New Testament, whatever is not of faith is sin. If you doubt, you are damned (Romans 14:23). We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). What makes you a believer in Christ is faith. Anything about your life that is out of faith is sin. As a born again child of God, you have been accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6). Being born again means you are dead to sin and come alive in Christ (John 5:24). When you live by the law, you live a defeated life. A born again child of God lives his life by what Jesus did and not on family traditions and customs. The Bible speaking in 1Peter 1:18 says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:’


If God is the Head of the body of which you are a member, then you have everything. God can provide all your needs. All you need to do is to trust and reverence Him. It makes no sense to say that the head is well but the body is sick or that the head is rich but the body is in lack. As Jesus is, so are you in this world (1John 4:17). The more you begin to see that you are one with Christ, the more you will realize that whatever you need right now, He is dispensing it to you. In God’s perfect will, there is no sickness, poverty nor death. So there should be no sickness, poverty nor death traceable to you. There should be nothing missing, broken or lacking in you because in Him you live, move and have your being. Beloved, have the rich mind-set and revelation that Christ and you are one. You can never be separated from Christ your head from whom comes all the supply you need.

POWER IS FOR THE SONS





“But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in His name” John 1:12.


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: When you understand what Jesus did at the cross, you begin to walk in victory.


There is a mystery behind the cross. It is much more than the tree or stick we see. The cross is the evidence of the power of God. It is the evidence of our Christianity. Christianity without power is a mere religion. By the law of relationship, all the deeds at the cross are now left for us to claim them. The blood of Jesus that was shed at the cross becomes our defense in life. The finished work at the cross of Calvary brought justification to men by the blood of Jesus. It is therefore an abuse of privilege to know Jesus and live an ordinary life devoid of the manifestation of power. When you understand what Jesus came to do for you at the Cross of Calvary, Satan will not be able to withstand you anymore. The cross remains an eternal symbol of the defeat of Satan.

God defeated Satan and all power belongs to God and His saints (Psalm 62:11; Luke 10:19; Mark16:17-18). Power is the dynamic ability to cause changes. If you cannot bring change to your situation, then you cannot bring change to your generation. When you possess power, you have the ability to change any situation you don’t like. The knowledge of the Word of God that you have endorses you for power. You can access power through the name of Jesus. You must believe in the Lord Jesus in order to access the power made available to you. God also defeated Satan and handed over riches to believers. The riches of God brings favour to men (Exodus 3:21; Psalm 30:5). The redemptive power of God helps you connect to the wisdom of God. Wisdom is knowing what to do per time, how to do it and when to do it. All these things that Jesus collected from Satan, he did not take them back to heaven. Power, riches, wisdom has been handed over to believers in Christ Jesus to enable us live a victorious life here on earth. It is the responsibility of believers to come into this knowledge that Satan has been defeated and does not have any stronghold on them anymore.


INSTRUCTION: Awake to your new position in Christ Jesus.

NO MORE SLAVES


“…Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you” John 15:15


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are no longer a servant; you are a son of God.


As a born again Christian, you are no longer a servant. You are a joint-heir with Christ. You are literally born of God, with His life in your spirit. This makes you one with God. Romans 8:16-17 AMPC says, “The Spirit Himself (thus) testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God. And if we are His children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing his inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory”. You are no longer a servant; you are a son of God. Jesus Christ did not just come to die to save you from sin. That was a means to an end. He came to give you life, so that with that life in you, you could be in fellowship with God. He came to bring you into union with God. This is what His vicarious death accomplished for you. He brought you into the fellowship of the God-kind.

In John 5:26, the Bible says, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself”. This life is in His Son and he that has the Son has this life (1 John 5:11-12). The same inherent life that Jesus has is what He gave to you at New Birth. You are therefore not expected to live below God’s standards. You can’t know this as a Christian and live a life of defeat. You are a special and peculiar breed; a carrier of the God-life and dispenser of His unsearchable riches and grace. Ephesians 2:10 AMPC says, “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

INSTRUCTION:Get to know who you are.


PRAYER:Father, thank you for making me your son and a dispenser of your riches and grace, in Jesus Name.

SALVATION IS THROUGH FAITH IN THE GOSPEL




“Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, forseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed” Galatians 3:6-8.


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Jesus is everything we need. 

According to today’s text, Abraham released faith in the gospel and he was saved. The only thing that saves a man is faith in the gospel. The gospel was given as a promise by God through the prophets and the prophets wrote them down in the scriptures. The promise was then fulfilled on the day of resurrection. Romans 1:1-5 says, “PAUL, a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the Holy scriptures) concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead”. The resurrection of Jesus is proof that the promise has been fulfilled. Apostle Paul also explained that Christ was raised from the dead so we can be free (justified), discharged and acquitted (Romans 4:25; Romans 8:32).

Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. The word, ‘Peace’ in Greek word is translated as ‘being united’ or engrafted in Christ. Gospel brings you into faith in Christ. Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Faith in Christ is faith in the gospel of Christ. It is faith in the resurrection. It is the same faith for salvation. The gospel is the reason we gather in church. Motivational messages cannot save. It is only the gospel that can save. Paul spoke about Jesus being declared the son of God with power by resurrection from the dead. This is the message that was promised in the gospel. The power of God is the gospel. If it is not the gospel, then it’s not the power of God. Where you find the gospel, you find power.


INSTRUCTION: Believe in the gospel of Christ.

DON’T BE SIN CONSCIOUS (2)




“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more” Hebrews 8:12


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: A born again Christian is a new creature, and the new creation has no past.


It is unfortunate that too many Christians are still enslaved by the memories of their past. They are cheerful in one minute and the next minute, they are depressed because they just remembered something they did in the past. But the word of God makes us understand that the moment you got born again, your past ceased to exist. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new”. The Christian is a new creation, and the new creation has no past; he has never existed before. Your old nature, the old you and everything about your earthly, natural human life was supplanted by the very life and nature of God at the New Birth. When God looks at you, He does not see the old you, rather, He sees Christ, because you are in Christ. And in Christ, you have been made righteous. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Something so extra ordinary that Jesus accomplished for us is the remission of sins. Our sins past, present and future were remitted ever before we came into Christ. This happened legally. But we can only come into this vital experience when we are born again. So even when you remember a past mistake or misdemeanor and you feel bad and ask God to forgive you over and over again, He does not have the record; He does not even remember. Christ Jesus paid the full penalty for sin in His death on the Cross. The Bible says it was necessary that Christ should suffer for our sins (Luke 24:46) and we now walk in the newness of life. Romans 6:4 says, “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life”. You are forever blameless in the sight of God, because Jesus died to “…present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight” (Colossians 1:22). 


INSTRUCTION:Renew your mind.


PRAYER:Father, thank you for the remission of my sins through Christ Jesus and making me blameless before you, in Jesus name!

DON’T BE SIN CONSCIOUS (1)




“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”(1 John 3:9)


LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; as Jesus is, so are you in this world.


It is wrong for a born again Christian to still see himself as a sinner. Unfortunately, many Christians still live with this mentality. This reveals why they are ineffective in their Christian walk. You must know that now that you are born again, your life is new and divine. You must therefore embrace this picture of the new you and let go sin consciousness. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; as Jesus is, so are you in this world. You need to have a greater consciousness of your new life in Christ. That life gives you power to live above sin. You may still be conscious of your sins if you do not allow your mind to be renewed by subjecting and yielding yourself to the dominion of the Word, to live in and by the Word. Recall that in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Apostle Paul rebuked some of the Christians in Corinth because their way of life was not consistent with the new nature of righteousness they had received. Yet, he did not call them ‘sinners’. He writes, “know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers……And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God”.

Note that Apostle Paul did not say, “And such are some of you”, rather he says, “And such were some of you”. This is because now that you are in Christ, you have been cleansed of all unrighteousness. You have been washed; separated from sin unto God and declared righteous, in the Name of the Lord, and by the Spirit of our God. You must recognize your new identity, stop being conscious of sin, see the picture of the new you and live accordingly. Consistently study and meditate on the Word of God for it shows your real glory and reveals your true personality.
