DON’T BE SIN CONSCIOUS (1)

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”(1 John 3:9)

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; as Jesus is, so are you in this world.

It is wrong for a born again Christian to still see himself as a sinner. Unfortunately, many Christians still live with this mentality. This reveals why they are ineffective in their Christian walk. You must know that now that you are born again, your life is new and divine. You must therefore embrace this picture of the new you and let go sin consciousness. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; as Jesus is, so are you in this world. You need to have a greater consciousness of your new life in Christ. That life gives you power to live above sin. You may still be conscious of your sins when you have not allowed your mind to be renewed by subjecting and yielding yourself to the dominion of the Word, to live in and by the Word. Recall that in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Apostle Paul rebuked some of the Christians in Corinth because their way of life was not consistent with their new nature of righteousness they had received. Yet, he did not call them ‘sinners’. He writes, “know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers……And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God”.

Note that Apostle Paul did not say, “And such are some of you”, rather he says, “And such were some of you”. This is because now that you are in Christ, you have been cleansed of all unrighteousness. You have been washed; separated from sin unto God and declared righteous, in the Name of the Lord, and by the Spirit of our God. You must recognize your new identity, stop being conscious of sin, see the picture of the new you and live accordingly. Consistently study and meditate on the Word of God for it shows your real glory and reveals your true personality.

INSTRUCTION:Never be conscious of sin. It has been taken care of.

YOU ARE A NEW MAN

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2Corinthians 5:17.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The moment you become born again, you become a new man without a past.

The death, burial and resurrection of Christ was to bring justification to man. When you believe that He died for you and that God raised Him back to life, and have confessed His Lordship over your life, you receive eternal life. Immediately, righteousness is imparted to your spirit and you are born again. You immediately become a new man without a past. The Bible records that Christ was delivered up on account of our transgressions, but was raised for our justification (Romans 4:25). Romans 5:1 says that we have been justified and have peace with God. To be justified is to be discharged and acquitted. It means not to be charged with sin and declared righteous. This is who a new man is. He is a man without any past records of sin, a man who never existed before. This is because all things have become new.

Christianity is not too complex. All that is required is that you accept what the Word says as the truth to live by, and your struggles will be over. The struggle to do right ends immediately you accept all that Christ has done for you. Suddenly, you become awakened to your spiritual realm which is the reality of your new life in Christ. This is an amazing life. You must believe that you are a new creation in Christ Jesus with no past record of sins. Believe that you have been justified, discharged and acquitted and that you are now the righteousness of God in Christ. Therefore, you have to live your life in Him through faith.

INSTRUCTION:Believe that you have been justified.

THE NEW MAN CANNOT BE POISONED

“…and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” Mark 16:17-18

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: As a new man in Christ Jesus, the life you live now is not by the flesh neither is it of the blood.

The Bible in Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood”. As a new man in Christ, the life you live now is not of the flesh neither is it by the blood. Being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, your body does not live by the blood anymore. The life of the flesh, for the unregenerate man is the blood, but when you are regenerated (born again), Christ becomes your new life (Colossians 3:4). Therefore, a believer in Christ cannot be poisoned. It does not matter how the poison is administered, in as much your life is not based on the blood and poison uses blood to access your body system, you are not permitted to die from any blood related ailments. When Jesus was crucified, a soldier thrust a spear through His side. The Bible records that blood and water gushed out from Him. When God raised Him from the dead, there was no blood in His body. The Holy Spirit became the life of His physical body. 

The Bible records in Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you”. The word, ‘quicken’ means to ‘make alive’ or to ‘give life to’. The day you received the Holy Spirit, He quickened your physical body. He became the life of your spiritual body. Your life does not depend on blood anymore. Therefore, anything that can affect or destroy the blood should not have an effect on you. This is the reason a Christian cannot be poisoned. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead has vitalized your body such that no infection can survive or thrive in your body. The Holy Spirit in you permeates your entire body system to ensure that you are in perfect health.

A NEW MAN IN CHRIST CANNOT DIE

“For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death” Romans 8:2-4

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: It takes a free man to pay the ransom for the captive.


The Law of the spirit of life has made us free in Christ. When a man believes and receives Christ into his life, he becomes a new man. The scripture says that he becomes translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:12). Sin brought death to the world and the penalty of sin was death (Romans 6:23). Man therefore became a captive of sin and death. He could not help himself. No captive can bail himself out of prison. It takes only a free man to pay the ransom to free the captive. So man needed help. He needed someone to pay the price for him. Jesus had to pay the price to redeem man from the captivity of sin and death. Since God is a God of justice, He had to send His Son to meet the demands of the law. The demand of the law stipulated that every soul that sinneth must die (Ezekiel 18:4). Jesus had to surrender himself to bear the sins of the world, die a gruesome death on the cross and pay the price for man’s sin. By this means, anybody who comes into Christ is not permitted to die.

Those who are in Christ Jesus are no longer subject to death. It is instructive to note that death was empowered to kill with hunger, with the sword and spiritual death (Revelation 6:8). As a new man in Christ, these three predicaments are not permitted to be effective in your life. This is because what defines the life of a new man in Christ is not in what he can do but in who he is in Christ. What defines the life of a new man in Christ is in everything God has done. God does not place any demands from us. Satan is afraid of you knowing who you are in Christ because he uses the fear of death to hold man captive. The day you come into the knowledge of who you are in Christ, Satan becomes afraid of you. As a new man in Christ, you can nullify the works of the devil. Being born again is not a call for punishment but a call to exercise power and authority.


INSTRUCTION: Believe in Christ and be saved from death.


PRAYER:By the reason of the revelation of who I am in Christ, I shall not die in Jesus Name, Amen

THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING THE TRUTH

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Your knowledge of the Truth determines your audacity.

Truth, in the kingdom of God has nothing to do with physical manifestations or sensory perceptions. Moreover, truth is different from fact. The fact could be that you do not have money in your bank account, but it is not true that you are poor. You are not poor. You are only broke. To be broke is to be temporary out of money. Your experiences especially when they do not measure up to new creation realities aren’t “Truth”. They are mere shadows or pictures which the devil use to instill fear and unbelief in you so that he can use your fear to gain access to you and cause them to manifest. When you say that you are sick, you have uttered a lie, because the truth is that a new creation cannot be sick. The Bible records in 1 Peter 1:23 that a new creation was not redeemed by any corruptible seed but by the precious blood of Jesus. At new birth, your blood line was changed. Therefore, as a new creation, you are not permitted to suffer any blood disease.

Discover the truth of God’s Word concerning your health, finances, family, job, business and other areas of your life and boldly declare the same truth in agreement with God. The Holy Spirit unveils the truth of God’s Word to your spirit, enlightening the eyes of your understanding to know the hope of His calling, and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. Your victory is determined by your knowledge of the truth. Being saved is not enough; you must come into the knowledge of the truth. Your victory in life is connected to the knowledge of Christ that you have. It is the truth that makes men free. The Truth is a person and that person is Christ. The more of Jesus you know, the more you are exposed to the truth. When you are out of the truth, you get closer to Satan. To overcome Satan, you must know the Truth. Without the knowledge of the Truth, you will struggle in your faith life because you do not have an assurance of your salvation.

YOU NEED TO LEARN CHRIST

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertains unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God is not known in the senses neither is he known by feelings.

The Bible in Ephesians 1:3 says that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Also, 1 Corinthians 3:21 declare, “All things are yours”. This is to prove that everything we need to live the good life here on earth has already been provided by God. But there is a condition attached. The latter part of our text for today points out this very important condition: it’s about your knowledge of Him. There is nothing we could ever need to live a good victorious life here on earth that is not already ours in Christ. However, making it a reality is a function of our knowledge of Him. This kind of knowledge is the full, exact knowledge which is translated in Greek, ‘epignosis’. God’s provisions for your life aren’t going to become a reality in your life simply because they are written in the Bible or because you sing it in a song that Abraham’s blessings are yours. There is a knowledge of Him you must have, a knowledge that unites the knower with that which is known; a knowledge beyond the senses, specific, precise and accurate knowledge without assumptions nor feelings. God is not known in the senses nor is he known by feelings.

When you know Christ, you do not just get to know and be able to appropriate all that He has given to you, you also get to know yourself. God’s Word mirrors you. The more you know Him, the more you also get to know yourself. You can never really know yourself as God knows you unless you know Him. He is the One who made you and therefore knows what is deposited inside of you and what you are capable of. He alone can reveal you to yourself. Therefore, the way to know Him and get to discover yourself is to study and meditate on the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:18 shows that God’s Word is a mirror that reveals your true nature. It says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”.


INSTRUCTION: Search and discover who you really are by looking into the mirror of God’s Word and getting to know the Lord.

PRAYER: I am what the Word says I am I have what the Word says I have, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

ALWAYS IN HIS PRESENCE

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

 1 Corinthians 3:16

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You are the presence of God.

There are many Christians who, when they come to church, would say, “Lord, we have come into your presence”. And when they leave church, they feel that they have left the presence of God. Some would even pray for the presence of God to come down or follow them everywhere. But you must understand that as a child of God, you do not ‘come’ into the presence of God neither do you go out of it. You are forever in the presence of God. You are the presence of God. When you enter a place, you enter with God’s presence. You bear His presence. You are the temple of the living God, who dwells in you by the Holy Spirit. When you became born again, Christ took up His abode in you. The headquarters of divinity was relocated to the quarters of your heart. He is in you now, and you are in Him. In Him you live, move and have your being (Acts 17:28). He did not come into you to leave again after some time. He is forever in you. The presence of God does not just come to rest on you; the presence of God is within you. In the Old Testament, the Spirit would come and rest on the people for a while. This was before the Holy Spirit came to take up His abode in our hearts. It is an everlasting indwelling. The Spirit of God dwells in you, and He is the conveyor of the presence and blessings of God, and all that has been given to us in Christ.

Have this consciousness that you are a God-carrying vessel, and you live in His presence every day. This is what it means to be in Christ. You are in the divine environment; the environment of His glory and divine essence. As a born again Christian, God now dwells in you by His Spirit. The power of any believer lies in the consciousness of who he is and what he carries. Until you know that the Greater One lives in you, you will continue to walk and live in fear of what is supposed to be under your feet. As a believer, you must know that God is with you, in you and for you at all times. When you know who you are in Christ; what you have in Him and; what Christ can do through you, it does not matter what is against you, you will be confident that in all these things, you are more than a conqueror.

INSTRUCTION: Constantly study the Bible to know the Truth for therein lies your victory and strength.

PRAYER: Lord, I am more than more than a conqueror. I receive the spirit of love, power and sound mind, in Jesus Name. Amen!!
