AUTHORITY IN THE NAME OF JESUS

“And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” Matthew 28:18-19

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The resurrection of Christ from the dead is what guarantees our victory.

Power is authority. Notice that in our text for today, Jesus did not say ‘some power’. No! He said, ‘all power’. All power has been given to Jesus, in heaven and on earth. The Bible says in Colossians 2:15, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”. When Jesus died, He did not ascend into heaven immediately; He had been made sin for us and had to go to hell on behalf of all them (2Corinthians 5:21). When He got to hell, there was an actual combat between Jesus and the forces of darkness. The Bible says, “…the hostile princes and rulers He shook off from Himself, and boldly displayed them as conquests…” (Colossians 2:15). In hell, Jesus invaded Satan’s domain, whipped his demons, and came out triumphantly from the grave. He marched them naked in His victory procession (Colossians 2:15 MSG). You do not march a man naked in the streets until you have conquered him. Jesus conquered Satan and his cohorts.

When Jesus came out from the grave, he said to His disciples, “All Hail” (Matthew 28:9). This was a shout of victory, because he had conquered Satan for us and given us dominion over the powers of darkness. Now, it does not matter whatever hierarchy of demons exist, we are superior to them. They are under our feet. No wonder Jesus said, “behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). As we spread the message of Christ, taking the gospel to the nations of the world, we must be conscious of our authority and dominion in Christ Jesus. We are His ambassadors; we are to keep ruling and reigning in His Name.

INSTRUCTION:Never make Satan a prayer point. He has been defeated already.

PRAYER:I am born of God, therefore I overcome the world, in Jesus Name.
