“For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians
2:8.
LIGHT FOR THE NOW:
No captive can bail himself. It takes only a free man to bail a captive.
Grace is the unmerited favor of God towards man. Jesus is the Grace of God. The Bible speaking in Titus 2:11 says, ‘for the grace of God hath appeared unto all men’. Jesus came to redeem all men back to God. But just as a gift cannot be yours until you accept and receive it, you cannot be saved until you believe and receive Jesus. Christ came to restore us back to our original place with God. We are no longer enemies with God. God is no longer angry with man. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into the grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1-2). By the death of Christ, we now have peace with God. This means that we have been united with God and now have a right standing with God. To put it simply, God is happy with you because you believe in Christ Jesus.
We are saved by grace. Salvation is a gift. You do not pay for a gift. Likewise, we didn’t have to pay for our salvation. We did not even have what it takes to pay for our salvation because we were bound men. A bond man cannot free himself. It takes only a free man to set the bond man free. Jesus set us free. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross purchased our salvation. At the cross, an exchange was made. Jesus died our death so that we could live his life on this earth. We did not have to contribute anything towards our salvation. Jesus Christ did it all. We don’t even have to confess our sins to be saved. All we need to do is to confess Jesus and be saved. In Romans 10:9-10, we read ‘that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation’. The Grace of God brings justification. ‘There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit’ (Romans 8:1).
