“But God commendeth his
love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” Romans
5:8
LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God’s love was not a reaction to our request.
The love of God supersedes every other kind of love. People
love you for what they can get from you or only when you are beneficial to
them. But God’s love was not a reaction to our request. The bible records that
God demonstrated His love towards us even while we were of no use whatsoever to
Him. This is the greatest kind of love. The demonstration of God’s love is not
taught in the scripture from the experiential point of view. It is always
referred to as a past activity. Prophet Isaiah speaking in Isaiah 53:4-6 says,
“Surely
he hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of
us all”. The love of God is specifically hinged on the death of His
dear Son, Jesus Christ. Our experiences do not approve or disprove God’s love
for us. His love is an unshakeable truth (Isaiah 49:15).
When you understand your identity in Christ, you would know
that the love of God is so broad. God’s love is irrevocable. Jesus has never
condemned anyone. The Bible speaking in Romans 8:1 (NLT) says, “So
now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus”. His
commitment is irrespective of our good or bad conduct. He had already forgiven
us even before we were born. Men love you only when you are good to them but
the love of God towards us is unconditional. John 3:16 says, “For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. It is
the ‘so love’ that distinguishes the love of God from the love of men. No man
can so love you. It is the ‘so love’ that led Jesus Christ to the Cross to die
for our sins. No matter how much man professes to love you, he cannot accept to
die for you; but Christ died for us. This is the extent to show how much God
loves us. We must reciprocate that love by reaching the world with the gospel
of the love of God.
INSTRUCTION:Appreciate the love of God.
PRAYER:Father, I thank you for your love
towards me, in Jesus name.
QUOTE: Man love with limitations, but
God’s love is boundless and unconditional.
