“For if the
ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that
the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the
glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the
ministration of the spirit be rather glorious” 2Corinthians 3:7-8.
LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The Law is to minister death while the Spirit brings the ministration of life.
The law was given to reveal the helplessness of man. It was
given to point man to his Saviour. Apostle Paul referred to the Law as “the
ministration of death”. The Law came so that condemnation might stand. When the
Law was read, death was ministered; people were condemned; spiritual death
became a consciousness. According to Apostle Paul in Romans 7:13, “For I
was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and
I died”. The law was given because of sin, so that sin might be shown
to be what it really is. The Old Testament could not fulfill God’s intention
which was to give life to man. Rather, it brought death because of the
imperfections of the flesh. No one could fulfill the law. No one could live up
to the standards that the law prescribed. But thanks be unto God! Christ Jesus is
the fulfillment of the Law. The Bible says that through Him, all are justified
from all the things which they could not have been justified by the law (Acts
13:39).
Jesus Christ brought life and immortality to light
through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10). So today, when the New Testament is
preached; the Spirit of life is being ministered. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says, “who
also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but
of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life”. The
letter here refers to the Law. The Law kills, but the spirit gives life. We can
therefore say that the ministration of the Law was death but the ministration
of the Spirit is the ministration of life.
INSTRUCTION:Stop focusing on the old. Embrace
the new.
PRAYER:Father, I thank you for the
privilege to minister life to the world through the gospel, in Jesus name.

the Law.
