CHRIST: THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us” Hebrews 9:12.

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The one-time offering of Christ dealt with all sins for all people and for all time.

By the one- time offering of Jesus, He became our mediator. Jesus defended our redemption and reminded Satan of his constant defeat. By the blood of Christ, our conscience has been purged from dead works to serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14). Until your conscience is purged, Satan will keep reminding you of your past. Your service to God is not complete until your conscience is purged from dead works. If you allow Satan to condemn you, your faith and confidence in God would be destroyed. God gave Christ to die for us even when we did not deserve it. He did not just save us but He also gave us the name of Jesus as an authority. The tabernacle Moses built was according to a pattern and everything in it has a representation. Hebrews 8:5 says, “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, see, saith he; that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount”. The veil in the temple represented the body of Jesus (Matthew 27:51). The shadows, types and the realities of what Jesus did include the constant sacrifices on the altar in the Old Testament.

God could not communicate to man without the blood. The blood of Jesus is not a liquid but His finished work, His office and His person. The one-time offering of Christ dealt with all sins for all people and for all time. The gospel is not about sin but about the forgiveness of sin. The message of sin brings fear but the message of the forgiveness of sins which is the gospel brings faith (Hebrews 10:1-2). The New Testament sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross did the work. The price Jesus paid for us is for our enjoyment of all the rights and privileges of sons of God here on earth.

INSTRUCTION: Never lose focus of what Jesus Christ paid for.

PRAYER: Lord, I take delivery of all that you paid for on the cross for me, in Jesus Name.

THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING THE TRUTH

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Your knowledge of the Truth determines your audacity.

Truth, in the kingdom of God has nothing to do with physical manifestations or sensory perceptions. Moreover, truth is different from fact. The fact could be that you do not have money in your bank account, but it is not true that you are poor. You are not poor. You are only broke. To be broke is to be temporary out of money. Your experiences especially when they do not measure up to new creation realities aren’t “Truth”. They are mere shadows or pictures which the devil use to instil fear and unbelief in you so that he can use your fear to gain access to you and cause them to manifest. When you say that you are sick, you have uttered a lie, because the truth is not a new creation cannot be sick. The Bible records in 1Peter 1:23 that a new creation was not redeemed by any corruptible seed but by the precious blood of Jesus. At new birth, your blood line was changed. Therefore, as a new creation, you are not permitted to suffer any blood disease.

Discover the truth of God’s Word concerning your health, finances, family, job, business and other areas of your life and boldly declare the same truth in agreement with God. The Holy Spirit unveils the truth of God’s Word to your spirit, enlightening the eyes of your understanding to know the hope of His calling, and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

INSTRUCTION: Get to know the Truth

PRAYER: I am what the Word says I am, I have what the Word says I have, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

QUOTE: Once the truth is received, deception loses all its power. Satan loses all his power when we know the truth.

YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The strength of your freedom is determined by your knowledge of the truth.

The Bible tells us that when you know the truth, the truth shall set you free (John 8:32). In life, knowledge is very important and crucial that anything you do in ignorance may either end up in error or total failure. This is to say that the strength of your freedom is determined by what you know. Jesus is that truth you need to know. And when you truly know Him, and you know that you know Him, and that He is in you, with you and for you, the things you used to be afraid of will suddenly become afraid of you. The knowledge of who you are and the consciousness that God is in you, with you and for you, will establish you in perpetual victory, freedom and authority against the forces of darkness and the challenges of life. It is that same knowledge that can establish you in victory, freedom and dominion over the power of sin. The Bible says sin shall no longer have dominion over us because we are under grace. So, the grace of God is the force that destroys the power of sin and death. And grace is Christ Jesus (Romans 6:14).

As believers in Christ Jesus, we are the temple where God dwells. This is to say that we are the carriers of God’s presence. This knowledge will naturally help you to do what is right. Christianity is living out the positive life of God in us. It is God working in us both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20). That is why you don’t stop sinning to be righteous. You stop sinning because you have been made righteous and empowered by grace to live right. This is our victory. Hallelujah!!!

INSTRUCTION: Study the Word of God to know the Truth.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to live right, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

QUOTE: What you know determines what you show.

YOU ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE LAW

“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master”-Galatians 24-25

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The Law was a shadow of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

When Adam sinned in the garden, he turned his back on God. He consciously submitted himself under the authority of Satan. By disobedience, his nature was changed and he became separated from God. Consequently, all men were counted as sinners. Thus, the scripture says, “By one man’s disobedience many were made sinners” (Romans 5:19). In effect, it means that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). This means that everybody right from birth has the sinful nature of Adam. It is the law that exposed the sinful nature of man. It is through the introduction of the law that man came to know that he was weak and therefore in need of a savior. The law simply pointed man to Christ, the savior of the world.

Christ came to save man from sin. Adam disobeyed God but Jesus Christ obeyed God. The obedience of Christ completely nullified the effects of the disobedience of Adam. According to Romans 5:19 which says, “So by the obedience of one, shall many be made righteous”. Jesus Christ is this person the Bible is referring to. Apostle John clearly identifies him in John 1:17 when he wrote, “The law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus”. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Law. Hence, the no believer in Christ is under the Law. A new man in Christ is not subject to the law. Romans 3:24-25 says, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God”. The word, ‘propitiate’, means to appease or make peace with someone. In this context, Jesus being our propitiation means that by his sacrifice at the cross, he appeased God on our behalf. The sacrifice of Jesus brought man back to God. God is no longer angry with man. Jesus Christ brought a peaceful relationship between God and man. Romans 5:1 say, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. The Law no longer has a hold on us. Halleluiah!!

INSTRUCTION: Believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross and be free from the law.

PRAYER:  I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, in Jesus name!

QUOTE:A new man in Christ is totally free from law of sin.

ALL THINGS ARE ALREADY YOURS (3)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”(Ephesians 1:3)

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: The greatest need of a believer is the need for knowledge.

God has given to man everything he would need in life, and has placed all things under his control. Throughout the teachings of Paul, he never prayed for the church (believers) to have things, but that the church (believers) should come to the knowledge of what they already have (Ephesians 1:15-23). The Bible records in 1 Corinthians 3:21 that all things are yours. It is wrong for any believer to think, conclude or say that God is keeping back some good things from him or delaying answers to his prayers for some reasons. You must understand that everything is already yours. God has already blessed you with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Once you come into Christ, you have come into the blessings of God. The greatest need of a believer is the need for knowledge. Remember the father of the prodigal son, who told the faithful son that all that he (the father) had already belonged to the son including the fat cow that was killed for the prodigal son on his return. And that the son could as well have killed the fattest cow and eaten it, except that the faithful son did not know that all things belong to him.The Bible tells us that HE who spared not His only begotten son, but gave him up for us all, how shall he not with him also, freely give us all things (Romans 8:32). God according to his divine power, has already given us all that pertains to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3). This is amazing. This means that if things are not working for you, God is not to be blamed. It is because you have not yet understood the true benefits of the realities of been in Christ and therefore not exercising your rights and authority.

In Ephesians 1:17-18, Apostle Paul prayed “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”. The riches of his inheritance are in the saints and every believer is a saint. Therefore, you have a choice to all things. Christ has made available for us all things and the moment you come into Christ, all things are yours. For you to enjoy these things, you must acknowledge every good thing that is in you which is in Christ (Philemon 1:6). So you need to enforce what Christ has made available for you by acknowledging every good thing in you through faith and positive declarations.

INSTRUCTION:Get to know what you carry.

PRAYER:Father, thank you for all the blessings you have given me in Christ, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE:God gave you brain so that you would not blame him.

ALL THINGS ARE ALREADY YOURS (2)

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertains unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God has already given you all that you need in Christ Jesus.

Beloved, everything that pertains to your life and godliness has already been done and given to you by God. Everything that God needs to do for man have been done in Christ. So he is not going to do anything about that situation, He has already done something about it. God has already given you all that you need in Christ Jesus. He has already done everything he needed to do for your spiritual and physical wellbeing, and the Bible told us that God has now entered into his rest waiting for us to receive those things He has freely given to us and to possess them. You need to know that God does not react to situations as if He never knew they were going to happen, and was therefore taken by surprise. Recall that He is an all-knowing God. Therefore, He does not react, He pro-acts. This is to say that He makes provisions for the answers to that situation before the situation occurs because He already had knowledge of it. The challenge many believers have is that they are not sure of the true position of God concerning their lives. This is why most of their prayers seem not to be answered because they are not revelational, and therefore not according to the will of God.

You are already blessed in all things. The same process Christ brought salvation freely to us, is the same way he brought every other blessing to us. Salvation is a total package.  However, to receive this comprehensive package of salvation, you need to know Christ. Until you know Christ, you cannot know what He has done and made available for you.  We can only take delivery of what he has given us by faith through the knowledge of Him that we have. The word “knowledge” used here is translated in Greek “epignosis” which means the exact, accurate and precise knowledge. It is revelation knowledge. Knowledge beyond head knowledge of scriptures but knowledge which comes by the revelation of the Holy Spirit. This ‘epignosis’ comes by hearing the message that is centred on Christ (Romans 10:17 ESV).

INSTRUCTION: Constantly meditate on the Word.

PRAYER: Lord, by virtue of my knowledge of you, I take delivery of all that pertains to life and godliness of my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!

QUOTE: Until you know Christ, you cannot know what He has done for you.

ALL THINGS ARE ALREADY YOURS (1)

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertains unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: God is not known in the senses neither is he known by feelings.

The Bible in Ephesians 1:3 says that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Also, 1 Corinthians 3:21 declares, “All things are yours”. This is to prove that everything we need to live the good life here on earth has already been provided. But there is a condition attached. The latter part of our text for today points out this very important condition: it’s about your knowledge of Him. There is nothing we could ever need to live a good victorious life here on earth that is not already ours in Christ. However, making it a reality is a function of our knowledge of Him. This kind of knowledge is the full, exact knowledge which is translated in Greek, ‘epignosis’. God’s provisions for your life aren’t going to become a reality in your life simply because they are written in the Bible or because you sing it in a song that Abraham’s blessings are yours. There is a knowledge of Him you must have, a knowledge that unites the knower with that which is known; a knowledge beyond the senses, specific, precise and accurate knowledge without assumptions nor feelings. God is not known in the senses nor is He known by feelings.

When you know Christ, you do not just get to know and be able to appropriate all that He has given to you, you also get to know yourself. God’s Word mirrors you. The more you know Him, the more you also get to know yourself. You can never really know yourself as God knows you unless you know Him. He is the One who made you and therefore knows what is deposited inside of you and what you are capable of. He alone can reveal you to yourself. Therefore, the way to know Him and get to discover yourself is to study and meditate on the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:18 shows that God’s Word is a mirror that reveals your true nature. It says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”.

INSTRUCTION: Search and discover who you really are by looking into the mirror of God; by getting to know the Lord.

PRAYER: I am what the Word says I am, I have what the Word says I have, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

GOD’S GREATEST GIFT TO MANKIND (2)

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand”   John 10:28

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:  Eternal life is the greatest gift from God to mankind.

Eternal life is neither an event nor a feeling but it is a person and that person is Jesus Christ. The arrival of Jesus Christ into the world was the arrival of eternal life. This is the God-kind of life. Our text clearly makes us understand that eternal life is attainable only through the person of Jesus Christ. He is the source of eternal life. No one can give what he/she does not have. Jesus is the eternal life. John 1:4 says,” in him was life, and the life was the light of men”. You might ask what kind of life was in him. John 3:16 provides the answer. It reads, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life”. Eternal life is synonymous with everlasting life. From the context of these two scriptures, it is logical to say that in Jesus is eternal life or that the personality of Jesus Christ is eternal life. The scripture in 1 John 5:11 says, “And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his son”. Eternal life is the portion of those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ.

Our text today gives us an assurance; that as believers, no man will be able to pluck us out of the hands of Jesus Christ. In His hand, there is life, security and prosperity. It therefore means that eternal life preserves you from death because your life is hid in Christ Jesus (Colossians 3:3). Whatever cannot destroy Jesus cannot destroy you. When you operate in this realm, you will be constantly aware of your Believer’s Bill of Rights. Therefore, nothing and nobody has the right to look down on or molest you. Eternal life has the capacity to make you who you want to be in life.

INSTRUCTION: Believe in Christ Jesus and have eternal life.

PRAYER: Father, I receive eternal life and I have life in abundance, in Jesus name.

QUOTE:Eternal life has the capacity to make you.

GOD’S GREATEST GIFT TO MANKIND (1)

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” John 11:25

LIGHT FOR THE NOW:  Jesus Christ was made a sinner so He could die for man.

Resurrection is not an event. It is a personality. Jesus speaking to Martha concerning the death of Lazarus said ‘I am the resurrection and the life’. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, made eternal life available to all persons. Eternal life is made available to all who believe in the suffering, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Faith in the finished work of Christ is what makes eternal life accessible to man. Eternal life is the pure work of Grace. No man can earn it. If you receive Jesus, you receive eternal life. If you reject Jesus, you have rejected eternal life. Sickness, poverty, frustration and death cannot handle eternal life. When the force of eternal life entered the grave, the grave had no option than to vomit Lazarus. Abraham and other saints of old were kept in paradise awaiting the arrival of eternal life when they died because they did not have eternal life. This separated them from hell. Paradise was a place where all the saints of old were kept before the arrival of eternal life (Luke 16:19-22).

At the Cross of Calvary, the dying criminal believed in Christ and confessed Him. Jesus instantly assured him that he will be with Him in Paradise. This way, Jesus demonstrated that a time would come when people would just believe in Christ and are saved instantly! Jesus kept the thief in Paradise (Luke 23:39-43) and proceeded to Hell to pay for the sins of humanity. No sinful man can redeem himself. If Jesus did not bear the sins of the world, He would not have died. In order for Him to die, He needed to be made a sinner. It is on this note, that 2 Corinthians 5:21 say, “for he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. This is to attest that Jesus Christ died because eternal life was temporarily removed from Him.

INSTRUCTION: Appreciate the finished work of Christ on the cross.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for the eternal life I have through you, in Jesus name.

QUOTE:The grave could not handle eternal life.

KNOWING YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: Until you know, you cannot take.

The knowledge of who you are in Christ is so vital. It is an important ingredient in having a right attitude and mentality towards the challenges you might face in life and living above circumstances of life. There are many Christians who are not appropriating the benefits of Christianity because they lack a precise and accurate knowledge of who they are in Christ. They do not even understand who a Christian is literally. They think for example, that a Christian is a religious person who goes to church religiously. But a Christian is much more than this. A Christian is one in whom Christ dwells. He is someone in whom, and through whom, the kingdom of God is manifested. He is a carrier of divinity; a partaker of the divine nature. Once you understand and come to terms with this reality, your life begins to have new meaning as you go through life with hope and gladness irrespective of your present circumstances. This is why it is important that you understand God’s Word, what the Word says about you and live your life accordingly.

The Bible says that Jesus wasn’t just delivered to death for our sins only, He was also raised for our justification (Romans 4:25). To be justified means to be declared right, to have a right standing and to be declared not guilty. This means that in the mind of justice, in the eyes of God, you never sinned; therefore there are no charges against you. You are now holy and unreproveable in the sight of God (Colossians 1:22). You are now a creature. A new creature has no past (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are a brand new species of being that has never existed before. You are not an improvement or a renovation of Adam. You are a brand new man recreated anew. This is why God can declare you discharged and acquitted because there is nothing to judge since you now have a brand new life. You are not a product of the death and burial of Christ but you are a product of His resurrection. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus graced to reign and exercise dominion over Satan and his cohorts of darkness.

INSTRUCTION: Get to know your identity in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

QUOTE: You are a product of resurrection.

YOU ARE SAME AS CHRIST

“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” 1 Corinthians 6:17

LIGHT FOR THE NOW: You cannot be separated from Christ.

The name of Jesus is not in the letters. The name of Jesus is an office. When you own the name of Jesus, you have his authority; you own His office and His work. What Jesus can do, is what you can do. What cannot fight Jesus cannot fight you. In Him, you live, move and have your being. You cannot be separated from Christ. His victory is your victory. His triumph is your triumph. When you look at Jesus, inside Jesus, you see yourself. When Jesus looks at you, He sees Himself. When you look at each other, you behold yourselves in each other (1 John 4:17). As Jesus is, so are you. When you see Jesus, you reflect each other, no more, no less. You are not inferior to Jesus neither is Jesus superior to you. But the prayer is that you come to the knowledge of these things. Because when you do not have knowledge of these things, you relate with God exactly backwards.

Jesus is head of the new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. A man in Christ is a new kind of man. He is like Jesus. As believers in Christ, we are of the same stock with Jesus. 1 John 4:17 says, “…as he is, so are we in this world.” This is the reason we can emulate Him. Our key scripture tells us to follow His steps. In order words, follow His examples, because as He is, so are we. He said in Mark 11:23, “You shall have what you say”. Practice this even now. Command any boisterous wind and wave that may be billowing against your finances, your job, your academics, your marriage, your family, your ministry etc to cease. Speak to that diabetes or any ailment in your body to be healed. Tell that cancerous growth to dematerialize. Like Jesus, you can talk to anything and it will obey you.

INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge that you and Jesus are one.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for making me same as you, in Jesus Name. Amen!!

QUOTE: Of all that God created, a new creation is the greatest.
